The Palazzo Carmagnola along via Broletto, in Milan, whose history dates back to 1415, after hosting some offices of the Municipality was transformed to become the new Milan headquarters of CONSOB. The renovation project has used the latest methods of construction and has provided the complex of modern data management systems, air conditioning and lighting systems, respecting the existing.   While maintaining the former destination of use as offices, the project has improved the structural, logistical and operational condition of the building, as well the quality and the comfort of working spaces. The reuse and renovation project has taken as a principle the respect for the monumental character and architectural quality of the complex.   The project of reuse and restructuring has taken as a principle the respect for the typology monumental and for the architectural quality of the complex, protected by certain constraints imposed by the Superintendence in the past; in particular, they were related to the maintenance of the facades along the street, to the possible restoration of original architectural settlements, to the respect of the building structure and the decorative and formal elements, existing or found during the work. It is therefore proposed to apply to a transfer of volume, it is therefore proposed to resort to a transfer of cubature, on the one hand by demolition of bodies added in recent times and restoration of the original portico with columns, on the other hand, obtaining full recovery for office use of the attic to the street, after opening windows, terraces and dormer windows. Below the courtyard have been built new spaces for meeting rooms, library, multipurpose room, guest quarters, training room and archives; the use of this solution was imposed in order to concentrate those functions that require large-scale rooms, which would not find adequate space within the existing local and would reduce excessively the spaces destined for staff offices. The new rooms in the basement are illuminated by natural light through skylights flush-mounted with the paving of the courtyard.
