The new 40 million-euro-worth project Nuova Linate aims to restyle image and usability of one of the main Italian airports, with almost 10 million passengers. The building already incorporates the original structure designed in 1934 by Gianluigi Giordani, and modernized with several interventions, including one by Aldo Rossi, in 1991. It was crucial meticulously engineer the project with the objective of ensuring seamless airport operations throughout all stages.  A first phase on the main terminal, which involved TEKNE designers in all design phases, included the construction of a new façade and the revamping of the arrivals and baggage claim area. The city airport has now changed its face, updated to a Cerri & Associati architectural project, through the installation of a new glazed canopy on the departures floor and shiny aluminum cladding over the structural elements.  The entryways are highlighted with new blue finishes, while the prevalent use of white aluminum and glass, along with new heights that allow natural light to permeate inside, gives the building a cleaner modern look, highlighted by new LED lighting system that defines the linearity of the front with low energy consumption.  In addition to the façade, the revamping of arrivals and baggage claim terminal on the ground floor was planned and carried out without interrupting activities. New false ceilings with LED lighting systems have been inserted as continuous strips perpendicular to the passenger flow, without intervening on other systems, when efficient. The revamping also involved flooring, finishes, check-in counters, toilets, retail spaces and fixtures. A preliminary phase concerned the preliminary design of the interventions in the BNCN building and the expansion of the F building.
